Purchasing Second Home in Charleston
About one year ago my husband and I began our search for a home in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. It was to be our second home as we live in Europe but hoped to eventually retire to this region. We planned to do our home search by internet with a visit afterward to see which of the many neighborhoods most “suited us.”
Part of our search process included finding a website in the Charleston area that provided the most up to date and easy to use information. We were fortunate to find Adam Rodger’s website. Using his website we were able to not only see many houses in various neighborhoods in our price range, but also to have the help of Adam himself as our “eyes across the ocean.”
In summer 2008 we found a house in one of our favorite neighborhoods. We asked Adam to visit it, give his opinion, take photos, and answer a series of silly questions from “can you hear any traffic?” to “what is the view across the street” “what does the house look like from the back of the yard?”. Within 12 hours Adam had the answers to these questions, sent us all sorts of photos and helped us come to a quick decision to buy the house. We put in an offer and with Adam’s help, found a finance company, house insurance, house inspection and even a pool service. We saw the house the first time in August, 2 days before settlement. We were not disappointed.
Adam Rodgers has since helped us locate builders for our remodeling. Worked with the builders for us, was at the house for deliveries of furniture, security systems as well as provided us with ongoing reports and photos of the builders work. The plain fact is, we could not have done any of this without him.
I would recommend Adam and his company to anyone who is looking for a home in the Charleston area.

Relocating to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
My wife, Danielle, and I began our home search much like other people nowadays. We went to the internet. Because we lived 8 hours away in Tampa, Florida, we needed to find someone who would listen carefully to what we wanted. Adam did just that; he did a great job of assessing our needs. Danielle was pregnant and we already had a 1 year old. I had a bad back. We found that Adam could narrow down the search to the best quality for our budget and our family's circumstances as well as point out construction strengths and weaknesses that we were unaware of having lived in Florida. Everything in our area was stucco with a tiled roof. We made several 2 day trips to Charleston and Adam cleared his schedule to accommodate us. We had limited time so we needed to have a well thought out itinerary. Adam did all of this and more.
Adam displayed incredible patience. He was empathetic with our evolving situation which at times was quite stressful. We had several contracts "fall through" on our house for sale in Florida. In each instance, Adam handled the bad news with optimism, realizing just how sad and hopeless we were at times. It was clear that Adam was not trying to get us into something, anything, just to get the sale.
Adam was quite skillful when it came to interpreting the descriptions of the properties that came up on his numerous searches as well as previewing properties where not enough description was available. He emailed us pictures, and not just a handful. As time went by (our search lasted a year and a half) and Adam knew our specific needs and wants, he was skillful at obtaining pictures from all angles of things we considered important. He also included things we had not considered and so he took pictures of the views from different windows and of the street and neighborhood.
Adam went above and beyond the call of duty when it became apparent that we would be moving to Charleston and still had not found a home. He searched rental properties for us and even previewed some and took pictures of some. We did end up renting for 9 months during which time Adam remained on the job for us.
Adam has a list of people that are experts in their respective fields, all of which were able to serve our needs. Whether it was an attorney, a contractor, a mortgage broker, or just a good restaurant, Adam was always prepared. This is the sort of stuff that only experience and good organizational skills can provide. I always felt that when he referred us to someone, it was because that person was excellent at what they did, and indeed, that proved to be true.
Despite going through one of the most difficult and trying times of our lives, The experience was enjoyable thanks to Adam. This testimonial is the absolute truth and it is the least my wife and I can do for someone who has helped us so much!
